Man arrested under Goondas Act for sexually assaulting minor girl in Sulur

A 40-year-old man from Sulur was arrested under the Goondas Act for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The arrest was made following a complaint by the victim's father and a recommendation from the District Collector.

Coimbatore: A 40-year-old man from Sulur has been arrested under the Goondas Act for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in the Coimbatore district. The accused, identified as Sivakumar, was initially arrested by the Karumathampatti police based on a complaint filed by the victim's father.

Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan recommended action against Sivakumar under the Goondas Act. Acting on this recommendation, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati issued an order on September 2 to invoke the Goondas Act against the accused.

Following the Collector's order, Sivakumar was re-arrested under the provisions of the Goondas Act. This stringent measure was taken considering the severity of the crime committed against the minor girl.

The case has sparked concern among local residents, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and stricter measures to protect minors from such heinous crimes. Authorities hope that the invocation of the Goondas Act will serve as a deterrent to potential offenders and ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals in the community.
