Youth arrested with 1.200 kg of ganja in Coimbatore's Kovilpalayam

Two young men were arrested in Kovilpalayam, Coimbatore, on September 3 during a police patrol. They were found in possession of 1.200 kg of ganja intended for sale.


Coimbatore: In a significant drug bust, the Coimbatore police arrested two youth for possession of ganja in Kovilpalayam on Sunday, September 3. The suspects were caught with 1.200 kg of ganja during a routine police patrol near Viswasapuram.

The police were conducting their regular patrol in the Kovilpalayam area when they spotted two suspicious-looking young men. Upon stopping and questioning them, the officers discovered they were carrying a substantial amount of ganja.

The suspects have been identified as Deepak Kumar, 19, and Sindhu John, 21. During the interrogation, it was revealed that the duo had intended to sell the contraband. The police immediately seized the 1.200 kg of ganja from their possession.

Following the discovery, both Deepak Kumar and Sindhu John were taken into custody. The local authorities have initiated further investigation to uncover potential links to larger drug networks in the region.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb drug-related activities in the city. The authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or consumption.
