Impasto, a painting expo hosted by Arthouz, Coimbatore, features artists from Tamil Nadu and Kerala such as Ashil Antony, Surekha Sreejith , Vikashini Palanisamy and Vipin K.

The painting exhibition was inaugurated by Aparna Vasanthkumar, a famous art photographer from the city. Aparna Vasanthkumar is famously known for capturing creative shots of the very mundane affairs in our day to day lives.

One of the artists Surekha Sreejith who has come all the way from Kerala, said that "This is the first time I have come to Coimbatore to display my work. I have been painting since childhood. All my paintings portray the beauty of womanhood and nature. I take inspiration from things that are around me like birds, trees and flowers. Impasto is a combination of impression, expression and abstract. Here, the paints are directly applied on the canvas to create a unique texture. I have hosted my paintings at Kerala in several art shows and I am hoping for good response from the people at ArtHouz as well."

Another artist Vikashini Palanisamy, who quit her lucrative engineering job at Germany to pursue her passion for painting, has put up her art work at the exhibition. While talking to SimpliCity about her art works and the awareness of art among people she said "In foreign countries people buy art work instead of diamonds and gold and preserve it for ages. But sadly in India, art is valued much lesser than it’s worth.”

Impasto art form uses just knife and the canvas. The paint is applied directly to the canvas and a texture is created which gives a 3D look. People can do more than just see this art from, they can feel it. I have displayed some work which displays a colorful panorama of streets on rainy days."

The exhibition will be open at ArtHouz from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm (Monday to Saturday) till 15th May.
