Coimbatore: A YouTuber named Anas Ahmed from Coonoor has been arrested for conducting a controversial 'Hijab Challenge' at the Coimbatore Race Course, targeting young women who were there for their regular walks.

On September 3rd, Anas Ahmed, who runs a YouTube channel, visited the Race Course area in Coimbatore. He had a presenter ask young women if they would like to participate in a 'Hijab Challenge' by trying on the traditional Islamic headscarf. Some women who expressed interest wore the hijab, after which the presenter showed them photographs of themselves wearing it.

Based on the complaint, cases were registered against the YouTube channel owner and those involved in recording the video. Anas Ahmed, the owner of the YouTube channel, was arrested on September 7th and produced before the court.
The judge ordered Ahmed to be remanded in judicial custody until September 20th. Subsequently, he was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
This incident has raised concerns about religious sensitivity and the potential misuse of social media platforms for controversial content. The arrest of the YouTuber serves as a reminder of the legal consequences that can arise from creating and sharing contentious material online.
