Coimbatore: The Hindu Munnani organized a grand procession in Mettupalayam to immerse Vinayagar idols in the Bhavani River, marking the conclusion of Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations. The event, which took place on Sunday, saw a large turnout of devotees and spectators.

The procession began at the CTC Depot area in Mettupalayam and culminated at the Bhavani River near the Subramaniyar Temple. Vinayagar idols, which had been installed at various locations in Mettupalayam and surrounding areas by Hindu Munnani, were worshipped for two days before being taken out for immersion.

The procession was a vibrant display of devotion and culture. Thavil and Nadaswaram musicians led the way, filling the air with traditional music.

Adding to the spectacle were dancers from Kerala, who performed captivating routines dressed as Lord Muruga and butterflies.

The Vinayagar idols were creatively decorated, showcasing the devotees' artistic skills. Some idols were adorned with electric lights, while others were uniquely embellished with currency notes. One particularly eye-catching display featured Vinayagar seated on a chariot driven by Garuda.

Hindu Munnani organizers accompanied the procession, ensuring its smooth progress through the streets of Mettupalayam. The event drew large crowds, with people lining both sides of the road to witness the colorful parade.

As the procession moved towards the Bhavani River, it was accompanied by a dazzling fireworks display, adding to the festive atmosphere. The immersion of the idols in the river marked the conclusion of this year's Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations in Mettupalayam.

The event not only celebrated the religious festival but also showcased the cultural richness and community spirit of Mettupalayam, bringing together people from various backgrounds to participate in the joyous occasion.
