Coimbatore: Union Minister of State L Murugan spearheaded a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) membership drive in Ponvizha Nagar, near Mettupalayam, on Wednesday. The campaign, part of a larger BJP membership enrollment initiative in the Coimbatore district, saw the minister personally visiting homes to recruit new party members.

Minister Murugan, accompanied by local BJP officials, went door-to-door in Ponvizha Nagar, where a party camp office has been set up. During his interactions with residents, he highlighted the achievements of the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efficient administration.

The membership drive, which began at 10 AM, focused on direct engagement with the public. Minister Murugan held discussions with residents and facilitated online membership registrations on the spot. He emphasized the Modi government's accomplishments and the party's vision for the future.

Key BJP functionaries, including Coimbatore North District President Sangeeta and Deputy Leader Vignesh, accompanied the minister during the campaign. The initiative is part of the BJP's efforts to strengthen its grassroots presence in the region and expand its membership base.

The door-to-door approach adopted by the Union Minister of State demonstrates the BJP's commitment to personal outreach and direct communication with potential party members. This strategy aims to create a stronger connection between the party leadership and the local community in Mettupalayam and surrounding areas.
