Every year, September 9 is observed as World Electric Vehicle Day. To mark this occasion and raise public awareness about the benefits of electric vehicles, a rally was organized yesterday in the Coimbatore Race Course area.
District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, and Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran flagged off the rally. The event, organized by SSEM Coimbatore, aimed to promote the future widespread use of electric vehicles and create public awareness about their benefits.

More than 50 electric vehicles and over 200 participants took part in the rally. The procession began at the Income Tax Office at Race Course and concluded at the same location. This marks the third time SSEM has conducted this electric vehicle rally.
The event featured a display of the 'Puzhi' car, made famous by the Kalki movie, designed by Mahindra - Jayam Auto. This car attracted significant attention from the spectators. Through this awareness rally, the public was educated about the importance and utility of electric vehicles.
