DMK Officials Pay Tribute to Anna Statue in Coimbatore

On September 15, 2024, DMK officials in Coimbatore honored the 116th birth anniversary of Perarignar Anna by garlanding his statue in Gandhipuram. The event, led by Na. Karthik, saw participation from numerous party members and supporters.


Coimbatore: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) officials in Coimbatore paid homage to Perarignar Anna on his 116th birth anniversary. The event took place on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Anna statue in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore.

Na. Karthik, ex-MLA and DMK Urban District Secretary of Coimbatore, led the tribute ceremony. He, along with other party members, garlanded the statue of Perarignar Anna, the founder of the DMK and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.



The event saw participation from various DMK officials and supporters. Notable attendees included Coimbatore Mayor R. Priya Ranga Nayaki, Urban District Deputy Secretary Kottai Abbas, and LPF Trade Union President Parthasarathy. Other key participants were A. Tamil Maran, LPF Tamil Selvan, Meena Jayakumar, and General Committee members M. Magudapathi, Auditor Sasikumar, and S. Karthikeyan.

The gathering also included party spokespersons, zonal secretaries, corporation ward members, and thousands of DMK cadres and supporters. The event served as a reminder of Anna's significant contributions to Tamil Nadu's political landscape and his enduring legacy in the Dravidian movement.

Perarignar Anna, known for his principles of "Duty, Dignity, and Discipline," played a crucial role in renaming Madras State to Tamil Nadu and establishing the first Dravidian government in Tamil Nadu in 1967. The DMK continues to honor his memory and ideals through such commemorative events.
