Mayor Inaugurates New STEM and ICT Lab at Coimbatore Corporation Primary School

Mayor Ranganayaki Ramachandran inaugurated a new STEM and ICT laboratory at the Coimbatore Corporation Primary School in Siddapudur on September 16, 2024, in the presence of Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS.


Coimbatore: Mayor Ranganayaki Ramachandran inaugurated a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) laboratory at the Coimbatore Corporation Primary School in Siddapudur on September 16, 2024. The event was attended by Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS.



The newly established lab will benefit students from 15 Corporation schools in Coimbatore, including higher secondary schools in Siddapudur, Rathinapuri, Vadavalli, Peelamedu, and Maniyakarampalayam, as well as girls' higher secondary schools in Aranganthapuram, Ramakrishnapuram, RS Puram (West), and SRB Ammaniyammal Kuppakona Mudur. Additionally, high schools in Anupparpalayam and Ramalingam Colony, Siddapudur Corporation Girls High School, and middle schools in Ganapathy Ramakrishnapuram and Papanaickenpalayam will also have access to the facility.



The lab will conduct one to three training sessions per week for students from 6th to 9th grades, starting from August 2024 to July 2025. The primary objective of this laboratory is to nurture young scientists. It houses over 80 models covering various topics in science, mathematics, and robotics, along with ICT panels and digital content. These models are precisely designed to bring conceptual clarity and enhance the learning experience for children.

During the inauguration, the Mayor and Commissioner inspected the laboratory facilities. The event was also attended by Deputy Mayor R. Vetri Selvan, Education Committee Chairperson Malathi Nagaraj, Councilor Vidya Ramanathan, City Education Officer Gunasekaran, Assistant Commissioner Senthilkumaran, Executive Engineer Karuppasamy, Assistant Executive Engineer Hemalatha, Zonal Health Officer Gunasekaran, STEM and ICT institute officials, and other Corporation officers.
