Coimbatore: The DMK government's promise of an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore is moving forward, as confirmed by Industries Minister TRB Rajaa on September 16. The stadium, a key election promise during the last parliamentary elections, has seen swift action from the DMK government.
Immediately after the parliamentary elections, the process of selecting a suitable location for the international cricket stadium in Coimbatore began. Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin personally visited the shortlisted sites to assess their suitability.

Four locations were identified for the stadium: Ondipudur, near L&T Highway, near Bharathiar University, and the Prison Ground. Among these, Udhayanidhi Stalin inspected the feasibility of constructing the stadium in the Ondipudur area, which was reportedly selected as the final location.
Speaking to reporters at the inauguration of the Coimbatore branch of YES, an international company, Minister TRB Raja provided an update on the cricket stadium project. He stated, "Regarding the election promise of an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore, Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin personally visited and selected the site within days after the election.
