Coimbatore-Abu Dhabi Indigo Flight Service Awaits Winter Renewal

IndiGo's Coimbatore-Abu Dhabi flight service, launched in August, faces uncertainty as it's not included in the winter schedule from October to March, raising concerns among travel enthusiasts.

Coimbatore: The much-anticipated Coimbatore-Abu Dhabi flight service, which began in August, is now facing uncertainty in its continuation.

IndiGo Airlines launched the direct flight service to Abu Dhabi from Coimbatore International Airport on August 10, following years of demand. This service was warmly welcomed by passengers, operating three days a week. The flight utilizes an Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 186 passengers.

In August, the flight operated with 93% occupancy from Coimbatore to Abu Dhabi and 57% occupancy on the return journey. Despite this positive response, the service has not been included in the winter schedule, which begins in the last week of October and continues until the last week of March.

This omission has caused concern among aviation enthusiasts and frequent flyers. When contacted, IndiGo Airlines officials stated, "We have not yet received permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the Abu Dhabi flight service from Coimbatore Airport in the winter schedule. This is not related to the airlines."

The absence of this popular route in the upcoming schedule has left many travelers uncertain about their future travel plans between Coimbatore and Abu Dhabi. Prior to this service, Coimbatore International Airport only offered international flights to Sharjah and Singapore.

As the situation develops, passengers and local businesses are hoping for a swift resolution to ensure the continuity of this vital air link between Coimbatore and Abu Dhabi.
