Coimbatore: The Muslim community in Coimbatore celebrated Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, with great fervor and a colorful procession on Sunday. The event, observed worldwide by Muslims, saw enthusiastic participation from both young and old in the city.

The celebrations began with prayers in mosques across Coimbatore, followed by processions in areas with significant Muslim populations. The processions aimed to highlight the life teachings and principles of Prophet Muhammad, serving as a reminder of his guidance for a harmonious lifestyle.

In Selvapuram, a locality with a large Muslim population, the procession took on a festive air with children and adults alike breaking into dance. Young girls were seen carrying Milad-un-Nabi flags, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the celebration.

Imams participating in the event emphasized that the procession was a way to showcase the Prophet's teachings to the world. They highlighted Muhammad's message of equality, urging people to live without discrimination based on caste, religion, or economic status. The religious leaders stressed the importance of communal harmony and the Prophet's vision of a world where all people are considered equal.

The Milad-un-Nabi celebrations in Coimbatore not only served as a religious observance but also as a platform to promote social cohesion and mutual respect among different communities.
