Bihar Man Arrested Under POCSO Act for Sexually Assaulting 17-Year-Old Girl Near Pollachi

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law from Bihar near Pollachi. The accused, Vikash Kumar, was arrested under the POCSO Act after the victim was found to be pregnant.


Coimbatore: In a disturbing incident near Pollachi, a man from Bihar has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexually assaulting his 17-year-old sister-in-law. The accused, identified as Vikash Kumar, was working with his wife at a coir factory in the Negamam area near Pollachi.



Vikash Kumar allegedly lured the minor girl with false promises and sexually assaulted her. The crime came to light when the victim's sister grew suspicious of the girl's behavior and took her for a medical examination. Doctors confirmed that the minor was pregnant, leading to the revelation of the assault.



Following the discovery, a complaint was filed at the Pollachi All Women Police Station. The police conducted an investigation and recorded the victim's statement. Based on the evidence gathered, they registered a case under the POCSO Act against Vikash Kumar.

The accused was subsequently arrested and produced before the court. He has been remanded to judicial custody. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and protection of minors, even within family circles.

Authorities are urging the public to be alert and report any suspicious activities involving minors to prevent such heinous crimes. The case also underscores the importance of the POCSO Act in dealing with sexual offenses against children and ensuring swift justice for the victims.
