'Decision on Deputy CM is Ruling Party's Choice' - VCK Chief Thol. Thirumavalavan

VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan addressed reporters at Coimbatore airport, discussing potential Deputy CM appointment, national education policy, and prohibition. He emphasized the need for a national prohibition policy.

Coimbatore: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan addressed reporters at the Coimbatore airport, sharing his views on various political matters and party stances.

Responding to queries about a potential meeting at Arivalayam regarding the Deputy Chief Minister position, Thirumavalavan stated, "Who becomes the Deputy Chief Minister and who gets appointed to power is a decision of the ruling party. We can only comment after they make their decision."

Thirumavalavan clarified his party's position on the National Education Policy (NEP), saying, "The National Education Policy is different from the National Prohibition Policy. Not only Tamil Nadu but also some other states have disagreements with the National Education Policy. As far as VCK is concerned, we believe there are issues in implementing the NEP as it is, and therefore we oppose it."

Regarding the National Prohibition Policy, he emphasized the need to protect human resources at the national level. "Except for Gujarat, Bihar, Nagaland, and Mizoram, all other states in India are engaged in government liquor trade, which is depleting the nation's human resources," he said. Thirumavalavan stressed the importance of formulating a national-level prohibition policy as per Article 47 of the Constitution and urged for separate legislation.

The VCK leader insisted that closing liquor shops across India is as crucial as closing them in Tamil Nadu. He reiterated his party's demand for a National Prohibition Policy to facilitate this nationwide closure.

Addressing H. Raja's comments, Thirumavalavan maintained that their stance remains unchanged before and after meeting the Chief Minister. He added that the DMK agreed to participate in their conference because they concur with VCK's views.

When questioned about discussing prohibition while allying with the DMK, Thirumavalavan replied, "Watch our conference to see if we discuss it or not."

Lastly, Thirumavalavan welcomed the comments made by the owner of Annapurna but expressed distress over the way she was treated, stating that the VCK strongly condemns such behavior.
