Notorious Criminal Arrested Under Goondas Act Near Annur

Police arrest Ravindran, a suspect in multiple robbery cases across Tamil Nadu, under the Goondas Act near Annur. The accused had been evading authorities by fleeing to other states.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore district police have arrested a man under the Goondas Act for his alleged involvement in multiple criminal cases, including robbery and theft. The arrest took place in the Kovil Palayam area near Annur.

Recently, a gang was apprehended by the police for robbing college students in the Kovil Palayam area. One of the arrested individuals was identified as Ravindran, who had been involved in various robbery and theft incidents across Tamil Nadu. The accused had been evading capture by fleeing to other states and going into hiding.

Last month, after committing a robbery in the Kovil Palayam area, Ravindran had fled to Shimla. The Kovil Palayam police tracked him down and arrested him there. During his arrest, Ravindran attempted to escape from police custody and fell into a ditch, resulting in a plaster cast being applied to his injury.

Following his arrest, Ravindran was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison. The Kovil Palayam police have now registered a case against him under the Goondas Act. The information regarding the case filed under the Goondas Act was provided to Ravindran in the form of official documents while he was in prison.

The implementation of the Goondas Act against Ravindran highlights the police's efforts to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order in the region. This act allows for preventive detention of habitual offenders and is aimed at deterring individuals from engaging in repeated criminal activities.
