Coimbatore: Residents of Buddha Nagar, an Adi Dravidar settlement near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district, have put up notices announcing a reward for information about a stolen goat that was offered to the local Madurai Veeran temple.

The temple, situated in the Buddha Nagar area, is surrounded by a community of over 80 residents. The villagers had collectively raised a male goat that was offered to the temple as a votive offering.

However, on Tuesday night, unidentified persons allegedly stole the goat that the villagers had been nurturing. Shocked by the theft, the residents searched various locations but were unable to find the animal. Subsequently, they filed a complaint at the Karumadai Police Station on behalf of the village.

In response to the incident, the villagers have issued notices on social media platforms and through physical posters, offering a suitable reward for any information leading to the recovery of the stolen goat. The notices include photographs of the missing animal to aid in its identification.

The local police have begun an investigation into the incident, while the community remains hopeful for the safe return of their cherished goat.
