A 20-year-old woman from Selvapuram area in Coimbatore has filed a complaint against a man named Aswathkumar from Bodinayakkanur in Theni district for allegedly sexually assaulting her multiple times.
According to the police, the victim and the accused first connected on Instagram in 2022. Their online friendship gradually blossomed into a romantic relationship. Aswathkumar reportedly visited Coimbatore on several occasions, taking the young woman to various places. During these meetings, he allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times, always promising marriage.
When the woman began to insist on marriage, Aswathkumar reportedly refused, leaving her shocked and devastated. Unable to cope with the betrayal, the victim approached the All Women Police Station (South) in Coimbatore on Tuesday (Sept. 19) and filed a formal complaint.
Based on the woman's complaint, the police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for Aswathkumar, who is currently absconding. The authorities are investigating the matter further and are working to apprehend the accused.
