Special Prayers at Nandagopalasamy Hill Temple Near Pollachi on First Purattasi Saturday

On the first Saturday of Purattasi, devotees climbed 1500 feet to offer special prayers at Nandagopalasamy Hill Temple near Pollachi, marking a significant day of worship.



Coimbatore: Devotees flocked to the Nandagopalasamy Hill Temple near Angalakurichi, Pollachi, to offer special prayers on the first Saturday of the Tamil month of Purattasi. The temple, situated atop a 1500-foot hill, saw a surge of religious fervor as worshippers made the arduous climb to seek blessings.



The Nandagopalasamy Hill, known for its rugged terrain, is typically open for worship only on select days. Today, being the first Saturday of Purattasi, devotees began their ascent early in the morning.



Upon reaching the summit, they patiently waited in long queues to worship Lord Nandagopalasamy and the deities Bama and Rukmani.



In honor of the auspicious Purattasi Saturday, the temple was adorned with special decorations, and unique pujas were conducted. As part of their prayers and wishes, devotees engaged in the traditional practice of stacking stones at the hilltop.



This ritual is believed to symbolize their desire to build their own homes, with each stone representing a step towards fulfilling their aspirations.

The event highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and religious practices of the region, drawing devotees from various parts of Coimbatore district. The Nandagopalasamy Hill Temple continues to be a significant pilgrimage site, especially during the Purattasi month, known for its religious importance in Tamil Nadu.
