Protest Against Coimbatore Corporation's Contract with Private Company

Social Justice Trade Unions staged a demonstration in front of the Coimbatore District Collector's office, demanding the permanent cancellation of the contract between Coimbatore Corporation and a private company.

Coimbatore: Social Justice Trade Unions organized a protest demonstration in front of the Coimbatore District Collector's office, demanding the permanent cancellation of the contract between Coimbatore Corporation and a private company.

The protesters raised slogans against the private company for failing to carry out any work on vehicles and not crediting ESI and PF contributions to the accounts of 5,000 contract workers. They emphasized their main demand of preventing the Coimbatore Corporation from entering into work contracts with private management.

The demonstration saw the participation of over 30 individuals who voiced their concerns and raised slogans against the corporation's decision. The protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with the current arrangement and called for immediate action to address their grievances.

The Social Justice Trade Unions highlighted several issues with the existing contract, including the lack of proper maintenance of corporation vehicles and the alleged exploitation of contract workers. They argued that these problems were a direct result of outsourcing essential services to private entities.

The protest aimed to draw attention to the plight of the contract workers and the potential negative impacts of privatizing municipal services. The demonstrators urged the district administration and the Coimbatore Corporation to reconsider their decision and prioritize the welfare of the workers and the quality of public services.
