Coimbatore District Collector Announces Applications Open for Gas-Powered Washing Machines

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati announces applications for gas-powered washing machines for economically disadvantaged laundry workers. The scheme aims to boost their economic status.


Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has announced that the Tamil Nadu government is providing gas-powered washing machines to support the economic development of underprivileged individuals engaged in the laundry business.

The Department of Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Denotified Communities Welfare has been implementing various welfare schemes to promote the social, educational, and economic development of these communities.

To uplift the economic status of poor laundry workers, the Tamil Nadu government has come forward with a scheme to distribute gas-powered washing machines. Economically disadvantaged individuals from Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Denotified Communities engaged in the laundry profession are eligible to apply for this scheme.

The annual family income limit for applicants is set at Rs. 1 lakh. Interested individuals can obtain application forms from the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Office located at the Collector's Office.

This initiative is expected to significantly improve the livelihoods of laundry workers in Coimbatore district, providing them with modern equipment to enhance their work efficiency and income.
