Medicos continue anti-NEET protest even during night hours

In their bid to do away with National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate medical courses, the students of Government Medical college, Coimbatore who are on a warpath, have continued with their sit-in dharna protest, even during the night hours.

The students who are fighting the against the imposition of NEET on states like Tamilnadu said that rural students, would be in a disadvantageous position to clear NEET, unlike their urban counterparts.

Even as NEET is scheduled for May 7, (tomorrow) the protesting medical students in Coimbatore continued with their agitation against the imposition of NEET on states like Tamilnadu.

“The plus syllabus is not the same all over India, and the rural students who have studied in State Board syllabus would be in a disadvantageous position to crack  NEET, unlike the city-bred students who have studied  in CBSC stream,” the agitating students said.

Even though the Supreme Court has ruled that the status quo with NEET would continue, the respective states including Tamilnadu have appealed against the SC verdict. According to State School Education Minister K. A. Sengottaiyan, the Prime Minister Modi has to take the final call with regard to NEET.
