Coimbatore: Local residents near Mettupalayam heroically rescued a family caught in a sudden flood while washing clothes in the Bhavani River at Vaccinampalayam, Sirumugai. The quick-thinking locals used ropes to safely extract the stranded family members from the rising waters.

Ram, a resident of the Karamadai area near Mettupalayam, had gone to the Bhavani River at Vaccinampalayam with his wife and children to bathe and wash clothes during the school holidays. The family was enjoying their time in the river, bathing, washing clothes, and playing.

Suddenly, the water level in the Bhavani River rose rapidly, trapping the family in the flood. Caught off guard, they screamed for help, not knowing what to do in the face of the unexpected danger.

Hearing their cries, nearby residents rushed to the scene. Acting swiftly, they gathered ropes from neighboring gardens and used them to safely rescue all five family members from the surging waters.

After the rescue, the local residents advised the family, reminding them that the Panchayat administration had previously issued warnings against bathing in this area. They explained that the family's disregard for these warnings had led to this dangerous situation. It's worth noting that bathing is prohibited in the river due to the unpredictable nature of sudden floods that can occur at any time.
