Government Officials Continue Inspection at Isha Yoga Center for Second Day

Officials from various government departments continued their inspection at Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore for the second day, following a Madras High Court order to investigate pending cases against the organization.

Coimbatore: Government officials continued their inspection at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore for the second consecutive day on October 2. The inspection is being carried out following an order from the Madras High Court to investigate pending cases against the organization and submit a report.

On October 1, officials from the Social Welfare Department, Child Welfare Committee, and Police Department, among others, began their inspection at the Isha Yoga Center. The inspection, which started in the morning, continued until late night. The officials resumed their investigation on the second day.

The inspection stems from a habeas corpus petition filed in the Madras High Court by Kamaraj, a resident of Vadavalli area in Coimbatore. Kamaraj alleged that his two daughters were being held at the Isha Center after being brainwashed. He claimed that the center engages in such practices, brainwashing children and keeping them as ascetics, preventing them from communicating with their families.

In response to the petition, the High Court judges ordered the Tamil Nadu government to investigate the matter. They also directed officials to examine the pending cases against Isha and submit a report promptly.

The ongoing inspection is based on these court directives. Meanwhile, Isha has responded to the allegations, stating that all the charges made by the petitioner are false.

The inspection is expected to continue as officials gather information and evidence related to the allegations and pending cases against the Isha Yoga Center.
