The Red Cross Society, known for its impartial humanitarian service across the globe, has been actively conducting such training programs for college students in Coimbatore district since 2011 through its Youth Red Cross wing. These programs focus on disaster rescue operations and emergency first aid techniques.

The inauguration ceremony of this year's training camp took place at the Adithya International School in Idikarai, Coimbatore. The event was organized under the guidance of Nandini Rangasamy, Chairperson of the Coimbatore District Red Cross Society.
Key attendees at the inauguration included Dr. Murali, Vice President of the Coimbatore District Red Cross Society, Mohan Sankar, a high-level committee member, Kumudha Palanisamy, Poongothai, and Athya Parveen Bobby, the school principal.
The training camp has attracted participation from 190 students representing 29 colleges across the district. Over the course of six days, participants will receive comprehensive training on various aspects of disaster management.
The curriculum includes lessons on providing appropriate first aid to save lives during accidents, natural calamities, earthquakes, floods, and fire accidents. Students will also learn how to adapt and respond effectively to different emergency situations.
Red Cross Society officials stated that the training aims to equip students with essential skills to handle disaster situations efficiently, emphasizing the importance of quick thinking and proper action during crises.
