A retired village health nurse in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, admitted to providing medical treatment without proper qualifications. The Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services has filed a complaint at the police station.
Coimbatore: A complaint has been lodged against Suguna, a retired village health nurse residing in Puthupalayam Veera Kamakshi Amman Kovil Street near Udumalpet, Tiruppur district. The Health Department received information that she was providing allopathic medical treatment from her residence without proper qualifications.
Following this, an inquiry was conducted in the presence of Dr. Kannan Maharajan, Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services, Tiruppur, at the Chief Medical Officer's room in Udumalpet Government Hospital. During the investigation, Suguna admitted to treating patients without the necessary educational qualifications.
Subsequently, the Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services filed a complaint against Suguna at the Gudimangalam Police Station yesterday, providing relevant evidence. Based on this complaint, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Health Department officials have stated that strict action will be taken against those providing medical treatment without proper qualifications, as such incidents could pose a risk to public health and safety.
