Coimbatore: In a crackdown on illegal liquor sales, the Coimbatore police arrested a supplier near the Udayampalayam TASMAC shop on Saturday (Oct. 7). The operation, led by Thudiyalur Police Inspector Latha and Sub-Inspector Guru Ganesh, uncovered a black market operation behind TASMAC shop numbers 1618.
The raid, conducted in a vacant area behind the TASMAC outlet, revealed a stash of liquor bottles being sold at inflated prices in the black market. The police apprehended Saravanan, 41, a resident of Mangaiyanendal near Manamadurai in Sivaganga district, in connection with the illegal activity.
Saravanan, who worked as a supplier at a local bar, was found in possession of 28 bottles of liquor, which were promptly seized by the authorities. Further investigation revealed that the accused had a history of involvement in similar illegal activities, with 16 prior cases registered against him for black market liquor sales.
