Coimbatore: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a human chain protest in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, against the recent hikes in property tax and electricity tariffs. The demonstration, held in front of the Udumalpet Central Bus Stand, was led by former minister and current Udumalpet MLA Udumalpet K. Radhakrishnan, following directives from AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami.
Protesters raised slogans and held banners expressing their discontent with the DMK government's policies. Some of the chants included "Let's save college students from the clutches of ganja and alcohol addiction" and "Life has become miserable for people who voted in the never-ending DMK rule."
The demonstrators also criticized the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and the steep rise in property taxes and electricity charges. They demanded the resignation of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accusing his government of working against the interests of the people.
The protest saw participation from over 200 AIADMK members and supporters, including Udumalpet Town Secretary Hakeem, Union Secretaries Anbarajan and Pranesh, along with various town and affiliated wing administrators. The gathering raised slogans urging the DMK government to step down, citing its anti-people policies and the recent tax hikes as major grievances.
