Police Conduct Awareness Program on 'Police Akka' App at Private College Near Annur

Police officials conducted an awareness program about the 'Police Akka' app at a private college in Sellapampalayam near Annur, Coimbatore on May 8. The initiative aims to address safety concerns of college students.


Coimbatore: The police department organized an awareness program about the 'Police Akka' mobile application at Ayan Thiruvalluvar College in Sellapampalayam near Annur, Coimbatore district. The event, held on May 8 at noon, aimed to introduce and familiarize college students with the app designed to address their safety concerns.

The 'Police Akka' app, launched by the Tamil Nadu Police, is an initiative to facilitate easy communication between college students and the police department. It allows students to report issues and safety requirements, enabling them to reach out to the police more conveniently.



During the awareness program, police officials explained the features and benefits of the 'Police Akka' app to the college students. They emphasized how the app can be used to report sexual harassment incidents and other safety-related concerns.

The event was led by Padmavathi, the Women Police Assistant Inspector of Avinashi Police Station, along with Alamelu Mangai, the Head Constable of Sevoor Police Station. They interacted with the students, providing detailed information about the app and its usage.

The program also focused on educating the students about various types of sexual harassment they might encounter and the necessary steps to ensure their safety. The female police officers present at the event offered valuable insights and guidance to the students on these crucial matters.

This awareness initiative is part of a broader effort by the Tamil Nadu Police to strengthen the connection between law enforcement and college students across the state, ensuring their safety and addressing their concerns more effectively.
