Impairthon 2024 Concludes with Innovative Solutions for Differently-Abled, Awards ₹22 Lakhs in Prizes

Impairthon 2024 at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education concluded on October 9, 2024, showcasing innovative solutions for differently-abled individuals. The event distributed ₹22 lakhs in prizes and signed MoUs to foster collaboration in assistive technologies.


Coimbatore: The grand finale of Impairthon 2024, held at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education on October 9, 2024, concluded with a spectacular showcase of innovative solutions aimed at empowering differently-abled individuals. The event distributed a total cash prize of ₹22 lakhs among the winning teams, highlighting the commitment to fostering innovation in assistive technologies.

Muthusingam M and his team from Coimbatore Institute of Technology clinched the first prize of ₹70,000. The second and third prizes, with cash awards of ₹40,000 and ₹30,000 respectively, were jointly won by Somavarapu Pundari Sai from BV Raju Institute of Technology and Surya A from Sri Sairam Engineering College. Additionally, six teams received special mention prizes of ₹10,000 each for their innovative efforts.



A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Karpagam Academy of Higher Education and several organizations, including Torch It, Worth Trust, Invention Labs, Enabled.IN, Dhanvanthri Biomedical, S K Biomedical, and HearSight. This collaboration aims to further advance the field of assistive technologies, benefiting student communities and differently-abled individuals.

The valedictory event featured addresses from key figures of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education. Dr. S. Ravi, Registrar, delivered the welcome address, followed by the presidential address from Prof. Dr. K. Ramasamy, Chancellor, who emphasized the crucial role of innovation in addressing real-world challenges for differently-abled individuals.

Dr. R. Vasanthakumar, President of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, delivered the valedictory address, highlighting the transformative potential of the solutions developed during Impairthon 2024. He stressed the need for continuous innovation in accessibility, mobility, and communication, calling for user-friendly and affordable solutions that empower the differently-abled.

K. Murugaiah, Chief Executive Officer, and Prof. Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, Vice Chancellor, delivered the felicitation address, lauding the participants for their innovative efforts. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kamalraj Subramaniam, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, who emphasized that this marks just the beginning of an ongoing effort to improve the quality of life for individuals with physical challenges.



The Impairthon 2024 not only showcased innovative solutions but also reinforced the importance of collaboration between educational institutions, government bodies, and industries in creating a more inclusive world where technology bridges the gap between differently-abled individuals' needs and societal inclusivity.
