DMK accuses Tirupur Duraisamy of attempting to misappropriate Coimbatore Periyar District Dravidian Textile Workers Union's assets

DMK members allege that Tirupur Duraisamy is trying to misappropriate assets of Coimbatore Periyar District Dravidian Textile Workers Union and has sold some properties. The accusation was made during a press meet at Coimbatore Press Club.

Coimbatore: DMK members, including Parthiban and Arulmozhi, the party's legal wing joint secretary, held a press conference at the Coimbatore Press Club, accusing Tirupur Duraisamy of attempting to misappropriate the assets of the Coimbatore Periyar District Dravidian Textile Workers Union and selling some properties.

Parthiban stated that in a case regarding the ownership of the Coimbatore Periyar District Dravidian Textile Workers Union, a judgment was initially given in favor of Tirupur Duraisamy. He mentioned that an appeal was made, and again, the verdict was in Duraisamy's favor. Parthiban added that they approached the Supreme Court, pointing out irregularities in the union's election process, and the Supreme Court sent the case back to the lower court.

Parthiban further revealed that in 2010, a case was filed against him and four others for allegedly taking away union property. He said this case is currently being heard in the JM2 court.

According to Parthiban, the union owns properties in 46 locations, with a current estimated value of over 100 crore rupees. He mentioned that during the ongoing case, the Madras High Court had ordered that the union's properties should not be sold. Despite this, Parthiban accused Tirupur Duraisamy of attempting to misappropriate the union's assets and alleged that Duraisamy had purchased four properties belonging to the union at below-market prices and sold them.

Parthiban emphasized that these are not Duraisamy's personal assets but properties bought with money given by DMK volunteers. He urged Tirupur Duraisamy to admit his mistake to the Chief Minister.

Arulmozhi, the DMK's legal wing joint secretary, stated that both Parthiban and Duraisamy are conducting separate legal battles, each claiming to be the union's general secretary. He accused Duraisamy of selling four union properties at below-market prices while cases are still pending. Arulmozhi stressed that Tirupur Duraisamy is currently not affiliated with any party and should hand over the union's assets to the DMK leadership.
