Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, along with Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar and Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran, inspected the Emergency Control Center set up at R.S. Puram Kalai Arangam in Coimbatore on October 14.

Following the inspection, Collector Pati addressed the media about the precautionary measures taken by the district administration and Coimbatore Corporation in response to the Meteorological Department's forecast of heavy rainfall during the northeast monsoon season.

The Collector urged the public to avoid taking selfies or bathing in dangerous rivers and water bodies. He advised against traveling on two-wheelers or four-wheelers through railway underpasses and low-lying bridges when waterlogged during heavy rains.

Pati also requested residents to immediately inform the District Collector's office Emergency Control Center or the Corporation's Control Room if they notice any trees, buildings, or compound walls near their homes that are at risk of collapse due to the rains.

To prevent waterborne diseases during the monsoon season, the Collector recommended that people boil drinking water before consumption. He emphasized that these precautionary measures are crucial for public safety during the upcoming rainy season.

The District Administration has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of Coimbatore residents, with the Emergency Control Center playing a vital role in coordinating relief efforts and responding to public concerns during the monsoon period.
