A gas cylinder leak in Tirupur led to a fire, severely injuring a schoolgirl and her father. The girl, with 75 percent burns, was transferred to Coimbatore Government Hospital for advanced treatment.

Tirupur: A tragic incident occurred in Vanchipaalayam near Iduvai, Tirupur, when a gas cylinder leak led to a fire, severely injuring a schoolgirl and her father. The accident happened in the rented house of Jeeva (44) and Mahalakshmi (36), who live with their two daughters, Srimathi (13) and Kausalya (11).

The incident took place this morning when the family was attempting to change the gas cylinder.

A gas leak occurred through the washer of the cylinder, unexpectedly causing a fire that spread rapidly. Upon seeing this, Mahalakshmi managed to escape with her elder daughter Srimathi. Jeeva, who was outside, rushed into the house to rescue his younger daughter Kausalya.

In the rescue attempt, Kausalya, a 6th-grade student, and her father Jeeva suffered burn injuries. Neighbors immediately rescued them and sent them to Tirupur Government Medical College Hospital, where they are currently receiving intensive care.

The Veerapandi police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. While Jeeva suffered burns only on his hands, Kausalya has sustained critical burns covering 75% of her body. Due to the severity of her condition, she has been transferred to Coimbatore Government Hospital for advanced treatment.

The family, originally from Vanchipaalayam, had been living in a rented house. Jeeva works at a baniyan company, and their daughters, Srimathi and Kausalya, are students of 8th and 6th grades respectively at the Iduvampaalayam Government School.
