Coimbatore Police Obtain Good Conduct Bond from 594 Rowdies Ahead of Elections

Coimbatore police obtained good conduct bonds from 594 rowdies under CrPC Section 110 as preventive measure to ensure peaceful elections scheduled for April 23. Special operations and continuous monitoring being conducted across the city and district.

Coimbatore: With Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for April 23, Coimbatore City and District Police have intensified preventive measures to maintain law and order and ensure a peaceful electoral environment.

As part of these comprehensive security arrangements, intensive preventive operations are being conducted across Coimbatore city. Special checks have been carried out targeting habitual offenders and individuals with previous criminal records.

During this operation, police obtained good conduct bond undertakings from 594 rowdies under Section 110 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities during the election period.

Speaking about the initiative today, police officials stated that continuous surveillance and intensive patrol operations are being undertaken to prevent any law and order issues during the election period.

"As part of this effort, we have obtained good conduct bond undertakings from 594 rowdies to ensure they do not engage in criminal activities again. If they commit any offense and are arrested, they will remain in custody until the bond period expires without possibility of bail," police officials said.

The preventive measures form part of the police department's comprehensive strategy to ensure free and fair elections in Coimbatore. The good conduct bonds serve as a legal deterrent, binding the individuals to lawful behavior during the sensitive election period.

Coimbatore police continue to maintain strict vigilance across the city and district, with special focus on known troublemakers and areas prone to law and order disturbances. The department has deployed additional personnel for round-the-clock monitoring to maintain peaceful conditions conducive to democratic voting.
