Kadaiveethi Police Seize Methamphetamine, Arrest Three in Anti-Drug Operation

Coimbatore Kadaiveethi police arrested three persons during a routine patrol in Therku Ukkadam area for selling methamphetamine near a ration shop. The accused gave contradictory statements during questioning, leading to their arrest in the ongoing anti-narcotics drive.


Coimbatore: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, Kadaiveethi police arrested three persons yesterday for selling methamphetamine in the Therku Ukkadam area of the city. The arrests came as part of the intensified anti-narcotics operation being carried out across Coimbatore to eliminate drugs like ganja, gutka and other contraband substances.




During a routine patrol in Therku Ukkadam yesterday, Kadaiveethi police officers noticed three suspicious individuals standing near a ration shop. The officers approached and detained them for questioning. When interrogated, the trio provided contradictory and evasive answers, which raised further suspicion among the police personnel.




Upon conducting a thorough search, police discovered that the men were involved in selling methamphetamine, a highly addictive synthetic stimulant. The officers immediately took them into custody and seized the contraband substance from their possession.




The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Bashith (22) from Therku Ukkadam, Saddam Hussain (29) also from Therku Ukkadam, and Mohammed Suhaib (23) from Karumbukadai. All three have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.




Police sources indicated that the department has been conducting intensified operations across the city to curb the menace of drug trafficking and consumption. Special teams have been formed to identify drug peddlers and their networks, particularly in areas known for such illegal activities. The Kadaiveethi police station has been actively involved in such anti-narcotics drives.




The seized methamphetamine and the arrested persons have been handed over for further investigation. Police are interrogating the trio to identify their suppliers and the wider drug distribution network operating in the city. Further investigations are underway to determine the source of the drugs and whether more people are involved in this illegal trade.
