NEET 2026 Conducted at 16 Centres in Coimbatore; 7,181 Candidates Appear

A total of 7,181 candidates, including 298 government school students, are appearing for NEET 2026 across 16 centres in Coimbatore district to be held today between 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM.

Coimbatore: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for the 2026–27 academic year is being conducted across the country on Sunday.

Approximately 22.80 lakh candidates are appearing for the examination at around 5,500 centres nationwide. Of these, 9.47 lakh are male candidates and 13.33 lakh are female candidates. The exam is being conducted in 13 languages, including Tamil, English and Hindi.

NEET is the single entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS and BDS, as well as AYUSH programmes including Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy. It is also applicable for BSc Nursing courses in military institutions and veterinary programmes under the All India Quota. The examination is conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

In Coimbatore district, a total of 7,181 candidates are appearing for the exam at 16 centres, including PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya (Sulur), CIT College (Avinashi Road), PSG Sarvajana School (Peelamedu), PSGR Krishnammal School, PSG College of Technology (Civil Aeronautics), Nirmala College (Sungam), Kongunadu Arts and Science College (GN Mills), Government Model School (Ashokapuram), Government Arts College (Race Course) and Avinashilingam Institute (Bharathi Park).

The examination will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM. Candidates have been instructed to report to their centres by 1:30 PM.

Strict security arrangements have been put in place. All centres are equipped with web cameras, and monitoring is being carried out from a central control room in Chennai. Electronic devices, including mobile phones and wristwatches, are prohibited inside examination halls. Authorities have advised candidates to strictly adhere to the guidelines mentioned in their hall tickets.
