Minority Welfare Loan Schemes Announced in Coimbatore

The district administration has invited applications for various low-interest loan schemes for minority communities, including individual, self-help group, artisan and education loans, through the Tamil Nadu Minorities Economic Development Corporation.

The district administration has announced details of various low-interest loan schemes being implemented through the Tamil Nadu Minorities Economic Development Corporation (TAMCO) to promote employment, entrepreneurship and economic development among minority communities.

The schemes include individual loans, self-help group loans, Virasat loans for artisans and educational loans. Under Scheme-I, applicants must have an annual family income not exceeding ₹3 lakh in both rural and urban areas. Under Scheme-II, applicants with an annual family income of up to ₹8 lakh are eligible.

Under Scheme-I, individual loans of up to ₹20 lakh are available at an interest rate of 6% per annum. Under Scheme-II, loans of up to ₹30 lakh are provided at an interest rate of 8% for men and 6% for women.

Under the Virasat Artisan Loan Scheme, artisans can avail loans of up to ₹10 lakh for purchasing raw materials, tools and machinery. The interest rate is 5% for men and 4% for women.

Self-help group members can avail loans of up to ₹1 lakh per person under Scheme-I at an annual interest rate of 7%. Under Scheme-II, loans of up to ₹1.5 lakh per person are available at an interest rate of 10% for men and 8% for women.

Educational loans are also offered to minority students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and technical courses in government-recognised educational institutions. Under Scheme-I, students can avail educational loans of up to ₹20 lakh at an interest rate of 3%. Under Scheme-II, loans of up to ₹30 lakh are available at an interest rate of 8% for male students and 5% for female students.

The schemes are open to members of minority communities including Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsis and Jains residing in the district.

Application forms can be obtained from the District Minorities Welfare Office, District Backward Classes Welfare Office, District Cooperative Bank, Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks and offices of the Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies located within the District Collectorate campus.

Applicants seeking individual, self-help group and artisan loans must submit documents including minority community certificate, caste certificate, income certificate, family card or residence proof, Aadhaar card and other documents required by banks. Those applying for educational loans must additionally submit bonafide certificates, fee receipts, mark sheets and other supporting documents.

District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has urged eligible beneficiaries to make use of these government schemes to improve their educational and economic prospects.
