Coimbatore’s Green Journey: Siruthuli Marks 23 Years

Celebrating its 23rd anniversary, Siruthuli reflects on more than two decades of citizen-driven environmental action that transformed intent into impact, inspiring generations to work together towards a greener, cleaner and more sustainable Coimbatore.

Coimbatore:What began as a shared dream to build a better Coimbatore has, over the last 23 years, evolved into one of the city’s most inspiring examples of collective action. As Siruthuli celebrates its 23rd anniversary, the occasion is not merely a milestone in its journey but a tribute to the power of citizens coming together with a common purpose.

For over two decades, Siruthuli has stood as a symbol of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility. From rejuvenating water bodies and planting thousands of trees to creating awareness about conservation and promoting sustainable practices, the organisation has played a pivotal role in shaping a greener and cleaner Coimbatore.

Reflecting on the journey, Siruthuli Managing Trustee Vanitha Mohan said that the achievements of the organisation belong not to a few individuals, but to an entire community that chose action over apathy.

“Twenty-three years of commitment, collaboration and community action have shown what is possible when citizens united for a common cause. The positive changes we witness in Coimbatore today are the result of countless volunteers, supporters, institutions and residents who shared a vision for a greener, cleaner and more liveable city,” she said.

She noted that Siruthuli’s story is ultimately one of ordinary citizens creating extraordinary impact. Every restored water body, every sapling planted and every awareness initiative undertaken reflects the collective determination of people who believed that meaningful change begins with individual responsibility and shared effort.

As Siruthuli marks its 23rd birthday, the celebration serves as a reminder that lasting transformation is possible when intent is translated into action and action into impact. It is also an opportunity to acknowledge the thousands of hands and hearts that have contributed to the movement over the years.

Wishing the entire Siruthuli family many more years of meaningful service, Vanitha Mohan expressed hope that the spirit of environmental responsibility and community participation would continue to inspire future generations.

More than an anniversary, Siruthuli’s 23-year journey stands as a testament to what a city can achieve when its people choose to work together with vision, purpose and an unwavering commitment to the common good.
