State-Level School Volleyball Tournament Held at Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College

A state-level volleyball tournament for government and private school students was held at Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College, Vattamalaipalayam, on June 30 and July 1. Forty-six teams from various districts participated. S.V.G.V. Matric School won in boys' category while PSGR Krishnammal School secured first place in girls' category.


Coimbatore: A state-level volleyball tournament for government and private school students was held at Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College in Vattamalaipalayam near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore district on June 30 and July 1.




The competition saw participation from 46 teams representing various districts across the state. College Principal Dr. D. Gopalkrishnan inaugurated the tournament.






In the two-day competition, S.V.G.V. Matric School secured first place in the boys' category, followed by Keerthiman Matric Higher Secondary School in second place, Vattamalaipalayam Sri Ramakrishna Matric School in third place, and Crescent Matric School in fourth place.




In individual awards for the boys' category, Gokul Harish from Keerthiman Matric School was named Best Spiker, Dinesh from S.V.G.V. School won Best Blocker, Sabat Ahmed from Crescent Matric School received Best Server, Sanjay from Sri Ramakrishna Matric School was awarded Best Defender, and Saswanth from Keerthiman Matric School was chosen as Best Setter. Sanjay J.P from S.V.G.V. Matric School was selected as the Best Player.




In the girls' category, PSGR Krishnammal School team finished first, S.V.G.V. Matric School took second place, Annai Violet School team secured third place, and Sri Ramakrishna Matric School came fourth.




Individual awards in the girls' category saw Anu from Annai Violet School winning Best Spiker, Janavarshini from S.V.G.V. School as Best Blocker, Iniyarasi from Sri Ramakrishna Matric School as Best Server, Chandramathi from S.V.G.V. School as Best Defender, and Cathy Hannah from Annai Violet School as Best Setter. Mahisha from PSGR Krishnammal School was selected as the Best Player.




At the prize distribution ceremony held in the evening, Computer Department student Thanuja delivered the welcome address. College Principal Dr. D. Gopalkrishnan presided over the function and addressed the gathering.




Chief guest R. Sivaraman, Vice President (Sales Division) of Coimbatore's Anaimala Toyota companies, attended the event and distributed trophies and certificates to the winning students. Speaking on the occasion, he motivated the students saying, "A great sports person wakes up before the morning alarm goes off. He does not fear the strength of opposing team players and focuses solely on his team's victory. One who keeps victory as the only goal never faces defeat."




Computer Department student Hashini proposed the vote of thanks at the end of the program. The event arrangements were coordinated by Physical Education Director Swaminathan and Electrical Department's D. Santhosh.
