The District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has lodged a complaint after a man allegedly entered his neighbour's house and killed a pet dog over its barking. Madukkarai Police have registered a case under Section 325 of the BNS, which pertains to mischief by killing or maiming an animal.
Coimbatore: Madukkarai Police have registered a case against a 31-year-old man for allegedly killing his neighbour's pet dog following a complaint lodged by the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA).
According to the complaint submitted by Balakrishnan, Coordinator of the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the incident took place on June 29 at Palathurai village under the jurisdiction of the Madukkarai Police Station.
The complaint stated that the accused, identified as Vimal Kumar, allegedly entered the house of his neighbour, Ranjit Kumar, on Murugan Koil Street in Palathurai and killed the family's pet dog. The accused is alleged to have claimed that the dog had been barking before the incident. The animal reportedly died on the spot.
Following the incident, Ranjit Kumar approached the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals seeking legal action. Based on his representation, the organisation's coordinator lodged a formal complaint with the Madukkarai Police.
