Coimbatore: Building Owner Fined ₹50,000 After Dengue Larvae Found at Construction Site

Coimbatore Corporation health officials discovered dengue mosquito larvae in stagnant water at a new building under construction on Kalappatti Main Road, Ward 8, East Zone. The building owner has been fined ₹50,000 for failing to take preventive measures against dengue spread.


Coimbatore: Health department officials of Coimbatore Corporation conducted a surprise inspection at a newly constructed building in Mohan Nagar area, Kalappatti Main Road, located in Ward No. 8 of the East Zone.

During this inspection, dengue mosquito larvae were detected in stagnant water within the building premises. For failing to implement precautionary measures to prevent the spread of dengue, Coimbatore Corporation has imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the building owner.

Health department officials have emphasized that water stagnation in building premises must be avoided during the rainy season, and accumulated water should be removed immediately. They have instructed that extra attention must be paid to locations where construction work is underway.

Continuous inspections are being conducted throughout Coimbatore Corporation areas to prevent dengue mosquito breeding. Corporation officials have warned that strict action will be taken against building owners and house owners who create unsanitary conditions.

The health department has requested the public to ensure that water does not stagnate in their homes and surrounding areas, and to dispose of garbage properly.
