Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to the Coimbatore–Chennai Intercity Express services on July 10, 12, 15, 17, 19 and 22 to facilitate Road Over Bridge construction works between Thalangai and Sholinghur stations.
Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to a pair of Intercity Express services operating between Coimbatore and Chennai Central to facilitate engineering works in the Katpadi–Arakkonam section. The changes are being made to enable the launching of girders for a Highway Road Over Bridge under construction between Thalangai and Sholinghur railway stations. Line and power blocks will be in effect during the execution of the works.
Accordingly, Train No. 12680 Coimbatore–Chennai Central Intercity Express, scheduled to depart Coimbatore Junction at 6.20 a.m., will be short-terminated at Katpadi Junction on July 10, 12, 15, 17, 19 and 22, 2026. The train will operate only between Coimbatore Junction and Katpadi Junction and will remain partially cancelled between Katpadi Junction and Chennai Central on these dates.
Similarly, Train No. 12679 Chennai Central–Coimbatore Intercity Express, scheduled to depart Chennai Central at 2.30 p.m., will be partially cancelled between Chennai Central and Katpadi Junction on the same dates. The service will instead originate from Katpadi Junction at 4.15 p.m. and operate up to Coimbatore Junction.
Southern Railway has advised passengers travelling on these services to take note of the temporary operational changes and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
