Tirupur: Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 45.8 Feet; Thirumoorthy Records 32.95 Feet

Amaravathi Dam in Tirupur district reached 45.8 feet water level on July 9 with inflow of 297 cubic feet per second. Thirumoorthy Dam stands at 32.95 feet with 445 cubic feet per second inflow. Continuous water inflow prevails in both dams due to rainfall in catchment areas.


Coimbatore: Water levels in Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams in Tirupur district are steadily rising due to continuous inflow from catchment areas. Water Resources Department officials have released the water level details of both dams as of July 9.

Amaravathi Dam, located in Tirupur district, has a storage capacity of 90 feet. Due to continuous water inflow from the catchment areas, the current water level has risen to 45.8 feet. The dam is receiving an inflow of 297 cubic feet per second. Water Resources Department officials stated that 30 cubic feet of water is being released from the dam.

Thirumoorthy Dam, situated near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district, has a storage capacity of 60 feet. Due to continuous water inflow from catchment areas, the water level stands at 32.95 feet as of July 9.

Thirumoorthy Dam is receiving an inflow of 445 cubic feet per second. Officials announced that 1,090 cubic feet of water is being released from the dam. It has been reported that water inflow continues to increase in both dams due to rainfall in the catchment areas.

Farmers and the public have welcomed this increase in water levels. With continued rainfall, the water levels in the dams are expected to rise further.
