Coimbatore shuttler Nikhil has been selected to represent India at the ABC Asian Badminton Championships 2026 in Chengdu, China, following an impressive performance at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (U-15 & U-17) Ranking Badminton Tournament held in Bengaluru.

The national ranking tournament, one of India's premier junior badminton events, also served as the selection tournament for the upcoming Asian championships. Competing in the Under-17 category, Nikhil won the gold medal in the Mixed Doubles event and secured the bronze medal in the Boys' Doubles, earning a place in the Junior Indian Team.
Nikhil has been training in Coimbatore for the past seven years and has steadily established himself as one of the country's promising young badminton players through consistent performances on the national circuit. His selection to the Indian team marks a significant milestone in his sporting career.
He trains at RAKS Sports Arena, which has previously produced several players who have gone on to represent India at international badminton competitions.

Congratulating Nikhil on his achievement, Swetha Krishnamurthy, Founder of RAKS Sports Arena, said the youngster's selection reflected years of dedication, discipline and hard work. She wished him success as he prepares to represent India at the continental championship in China.
