Coimbatore district collector urges youngsters to apply for the 'needs scheme'


The needs scheme is one such initiative by the government that promotes the opening of first generation start-ups by the youngsters of our nation. The applications for 2017 are now open to anyone with required educational qualification and skill set.

The District Industries Center and Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation have set up a website, www.dickovai.com, where aspiring entrepreneurs can apply. Loans from Rs.5 Lakh to 1 crore is provided. Subsidies are given as well.

Those with a previous record of government, bank or educational loans are not eligible for the scheme. Those who are eligible will be shortlisted after an interview, after which they will be provided with entrepreneurship training and a stipend of Rs.3000.

In the year 2016-2017, subsidies worth Rs.480 Lakhs were provided, helping youngsters kickstart innovative start-ups. The district collector, Hariharan, encourages all interested youngsters with requires qualification, education and a passion for business to apply for the scheme, and be a part of the development process.
