A Gift to Their Alma Mater: Ashokapuram Govt School Alumni Donate Chairs to Teachers

More than three decades after leaving their classrooms, alumni of the 1991–92 batch of Ashokapuram Government Higher Secondary School reunited to give back to their alma mater by donating ₹46,000 worth of chairs for teachers and planting tree saplings on the school campus.

Coimbatore:

Returning to the classrooms that shaped their lives, alumni of the 1991–92 batch of Ashokapuram Government Higher Secondary School transformed a reunion into a heartfelt gesture of gratitude by donating 20 iron chairs worth ₹46,000 for teachers to use inside classrooms.

The alumni gathered at the school, located near Thudiyalur, nearly 36 years after completing their schooling. What began as a nostalgic reunion soon turned into an opportunity to give back to the institution that had played a defining role in their lives.

As part of the reunion, the former students planted saplings on the school campus and felicitated the teachers who had once guided and mentored them. During their interaction with the school administration, Headmistress Sridevi requested additional seating for teachers inside classrooms.

Responding immediately, the alumni collectively purchased and donated 20 S-shaped iron chairs at their own expense. The donation, valued at ₹46,000, is expected to improve classroom facilities for teachers and serve as a lasting reminder of the bond between the school and its former students.

The alumni also assured the school that they would continue to extend support by contributing towards its future requirements and development initiatives.

Headmistress Sridevi, retired Physical Education Teacher Shanmugam, and alumni members among others, participated in the reunion.
