Coimbatore Corporation Intensifies Dengue Mosquito Control Operations in Central Zone

Coimbatore Corporation has intensified dengue mosquito control operations in Central Zone areas. Larvae breeding materials are being removed from Wards 80, 83, and 46, while public awareness campaigns are being conducted to prevent dengue outbreak in the region.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation has intensified dengue mosquito control operations across various wards under the Central Zone, according to corporation officials.



Coimbatore Corporation is divided into five zones - East, West, North, South, and Central. Corporation dengue control workers are continuously removing potential mosquito larvae breeding materials including old tyres, coconut shells, paint tins, thermocol, broken tiles, damaged plastic items, flower pots, and plastic buckets from these zones.



Additionally, public awareness campaigns are being conducted simultaneously. In this context, special mosquito control operations were carried out in the Central Zone today (27.08.2026).

Dengue control workers conducted intensive operations at Kembatti Colony and Savithri Nagar areas under Ward 80, BRS Police Housing areas under Ward 83, and Rathinapuri Corporation Higher Secondary School under Ward 46.

Unnecessary materials that could serve as mosquito larvae breeding grounds were collected and removed from these areas. Furthermore, residents were educated about the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.

Corporation officials have instructed residents to eliminate water stagnation areas, clean water storage containers once a week, and dispose of unnecessary items to prevent dengue mosquito breeding.

Under the leadership of Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran, dengue prevention operations are being continuously implemented across all five zones. The corporation has requested public cooperation in mosquito control efforts and advised people to immediately visit the nearest government hospital if dengue fever symptoms appear.
