Sri Ramakrishna Arts and Science College in Nava India, Coimbatore, celebrated Teachers' Day commemorating former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary. Outstanding faculty members were honoured with shields and cash prizes. Coimbatore Regional Passport Officer K.S. Sathish, IFS, attended as chief guest for the event.
Coimbatore: Sri Ramakrishna Arts and Science College at Nava India, Coimbatore, celebrated Teachers' Day on Thursday, September 3, 2026, marking the birth anniversary of India's former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The event was presided over by C.V. Ramkumar, Chief Executive Officer of SNR Sons Charitable Trust. Dr. P.L. Sivakumar, Principal and Secretary of the college, highlighted the significance of Teachers' Day in his address.
Coimbatore Regional Passport Officer K.S. Sathish, IFS, attended as the chief guest and addressed the gathering. "Every person in the world certainly has a teacher. Teachers are those who always show the right direction and guide us. On this auspicious day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to each and every teacher," he said.
The college recognized professors who excelled in teaching, research, publishing research papers, and academic activities during the 2025-2026 academic year. The top three faculty members received cash prizes and shields as recognition of their outstanding contributions.
Dr. V. Kavitha, Assistant Professor from the BSc CS department, secured first place and was awarded Rs. 15,000 along with a shield. Dr. M. Praneesh, Assistant Professor from the BSc CSDA department, claimed second place with Rs. 10,000, while Dr. T. Divya, Assistant Professor from the MBA department, received third place honours with Rs. 5,000.
The college also honoured the top three performing departments. The BSc CSDA department secured first place and received Rs. 25,000 and a shield. The Information Technology department claimed second position with Rs. 20,000, while the Biotechnology department earned third place with Rs. 15,000.
Faculty members ranked from fourth to tenth positions also received special recognition. Those honoured included Dr. M. Hemalatha, Associate Professor from BSc CS department; Dr. T. Santhanakrishnan, Head of BCom PA department; Dr. S. Thavamani, Associate Professor from BCA department; Dr. T. Sasikala Devi, Head of BCom IT department; Dr. M. Jaidoon Bibi, Assistant Professor from BSc CS department; Dr. T. Hari Prasad, Head of BCA department; and Dr. V. Sumathi, Head of BSc CT department.
Dr. I. Parveen Banu, Coordinator of the college's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), delivered the welcome address. Dr. T. Hari Prasad, President of the Teachers' Forum, proposed the vote of thanks.
