Islamic organisation flays Modi Government for trying to enact law against triple talaq

The BJP Government at the center is bent upon politicizing the triple talaq issue by trying to enact a new law to abolish it, alleged the women wing functionaries of Jamaat Islami Hind, an Islamic welfare organization.

Addressing the media the women wing of the Islamic organization flayed the central Government headed by Narendra Modi for the undue urgency shown in enacting laws superseding Islamic personal laws.

Why the Modi Government has not shown the same urgency to enact laws in pressing issues such as farmers welfare and safety of women they demanded to know.

While arguing that common civil code is against the principles of Islam, they said that though some Islamic men misuse triple talaq to announce their marriage as dissolved most others do not. While there are equal rights for women in Islam and a woman can also divorce her husband through Khula, by a procedure embedded in Islamic laws they said.

To create awareness on rights accorded to Muslim women a public meeting would be organized on May 20, the functionaries of Jamaat Islami Hind said.
