Southwest monsoon: Holiday declared for schools in Coimbatore, Nilgiris districts today

Schools to be closed today following incessant rains


Coimbatore: Considering continuous rains since yesterday night, District Collector TN Hariharan has announced leave for schools in Coimbatore district today. Schools in Ooty, Gudalur, and Bandalur taluka in Nilgiris will also remain closed today.

Coimbatore and nearby districts have been receiving better rains for the Southwest monsoon this year. Heavy rains are lashing out at various parts of the district. Yesterday, water was released from the Pillur dam for the second day as water level at the dam was close to full. A flood alert was also given to villages on the banks of Bhavani river yesterday.Considering the safety of children, schools in the district have been announced leave today. 

Nilgiris Collector J Innocent Divya announced leave for schools in Ooty, Bandalur, and Gudalur taluka today.
