Porcupine's quill kills Tiger

A 7-year old female tiger was reported to be dead at the Manampalli Range of Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Valparai.

The workers at the coffee estate reported the death to the forest officials, who retrieved the carcass for further investigation.

A porcupine and also found dead near the carcass of the tiger and hence it is assumed that while attempting to devour the Porcupine, it's sharp spines would have punctured the tiger's throat and intestines leaving her to suffer internal bleeding.

The postmortem is scheduled to be conducted today by veterinarian NS Manoharan.
